Donate a mystery box to Mabel at Shrewsbury Rabbit Rescue by selecting the value of the box above. The mystery box will then be sent directly to the charity.
Mabel has got a spinal lesion in her neck as suspected. The intervertebral disc has collapsed and there is increased tissue within the spinal canal suggesting it has prolapsed and is putting pressure on the spine.
There are chronic changes which mean it is established and surgery is less likely to help though no neurosurgeons will touch rabbits anyway). The cause is most likely gradual degeneration as part of the ageing of that particular disc and a slower release if its contents.
There are no surgical options for Mabel and she's now on palliative care. As long as pain relief and gabapentin keep Mabel comfortable and allow her to do her normal rabbit activities, we will care for her until the time comes that this is no longer possible.
I really think Mabel deserves a mystery box filled with yummy treats, forage and toys.
